About this course

The Els Club at Dubai Sports City is the first golf course in the Middle East to be designed by US Open & British Open champion ERNIE ELS. The course is a long 18 hole, 7538 yard, Par 72 layout & has a mix of a links style design combined with a desert style setting. You will see large sand waste areas, undulating fairways & greens & massive bunkering. All this set on undulating slopes of native desert vegetation. The course is run by TROON GOLF.

The Els Club is part of the the residential development – Victory Heights, at the Dubai Sport City (DSC). DSC is the the world’s 1st integrated athletic metropolis. The course opened in 2008 & was awarded the “Best New International Course” by Links Magazine & has also been selected as a Finalist in the ” International Courses” category of the 2008 Golf Inc contest.

In addition to the facilities & amenities within the Dubai Sports City – the course also comes with a ”Butch Harmon” school of Golf – the first ever such school with the Butch Harmon name outside the USA. Son of legendary golf coach Butch Harmon, Claude Harmon III has coached the 2008 masters champion Trevor Immelman, among other tour pros including Darren Clarke and Adam Scott & oversees the new Butch Harmon school of golf.

The fairways & greens on the Els course are Bermuda grass. There are 4 sets of tees & from the back tees the course has a 75.7/138 rating. The layout includes 88 bunkers & 2 water bodies. The course is run by Troon golf & comes with a world class clubhouse, a driving range & academy, pros shop etc. The golf carts are all GPS enabled.

The Dubai Sports city also includes a 25000 seat cricket stadium, a 60,000-seat multi-purpose stadium, a 10,000 seat Indoor Arena, a David Lloyd tennis academy etc.
